So there's this awesome yellow shiny drum set idling by at home. I figured I've been musically challenged virtually all my life, except at age 5 when I had piano lessons twice a week. Though I'm old to learn and master a musical instrument and am pathetic in reading notes, much less in reaching them, maybe there's hope. Anything to contribute, right?
For a week now, I've been watching drum lessons online and trying to catch up. My fave teacher is Jared Falk who talks like he never reached his adolescence but has a collection of newbie-friendly videos instructing drummer wannabes a beat at a time.
All by myself and now playing eighth note rock beats. Should be doing better soon. #

A writer's work means writing intensely for 8 to 9 hours a day for almost two weeks. And she still has to finish a take-home exam for Contemporary Philosophy tomorrow.
And The New Republic magazine calls her kind "The New Proles." It can be acknowledged as form of flattery based on realism and a slightly leftist orientation that blames the system for taking away her dignity.
That's writing for 40 hours a week for next to nothing. And if it isn't for love, it's disillusionment. #
